As the rest are preparing for next year's CCA fair and programmes, we are preparing for our Food Reviews next year too!
You must be wondering..."what's Food....got to do with the Library?"
Well, Food may not directly be related with "Library", BUT one thing we are sure of is that we are Information Providers! We give you information of where good food are!

CCA FAIR :D

The media prefects are now in the process of planning for the cca fair.
The respective committee members have been meeting during the holidays to discuss.
So, here's what we've been up to ;
1. Flyers, for the first time :D
2. banners :D
3. PowerPoint slides :D
4. Displays at the booth :D
We hope that the CCA fair would be a success!
So, if you're a newbie to our school, here's the information you must know :D
Our CCA duty days ;
1. Wednesday (meeting day-compulsory) 2.15 pm to 4 pm.
2. mon/tues/thurs/fri (choose one day-duty day) 1 hr, anytime.
And here's what we do in our CCA.
1. workshops.
- storytelling workshops.
- chocolate making workshops.
- leadership workshops.
- scrabble workshops.

2. respective duties.
- stocktaking.
- shelving.
- wrapping of books.
3. competitions.
- scrabble competitions (yearly)

storytelling sessions!

In august, the librarians in bedok south secondary school will be attending a story telling workshop in school!
The library hopes to cultivate the interest of reading in younger children.
After the workshop, we would then head to a local kindergarten to read stories to the children there!

Canteen booth ! Leh long!!

22 may 2008, a few of the media prefects went down to the canteen with our library officer to set up a booth for our students and teachers to borrow books. We went down for 1 hour, displaying our new range of library books on the canteen table and inviting people to borrow them. The booth had all the newly arrived English and Chinese books!
This move creates awareness of the new books and the wide range of books the library actually has. Several students and teachers were impressed by what the library carries, showing that not many people know about the books that we have.
The library hopes that more people would come foward more often to read. There are actually many interesting books that the Media Prefects would display on the different tables in the library, according to the theme selected. Do visit the library more often and be on the lookout for these books!

Scrabble competitions(:

One month ago, the Bedok south secondary school media prefects embarked on the srabble competition. Those librarians who volunteered to go for the competition showed their activeness and passion for scrabble through the many trainings they were given. Our ex students who went for many scrabble competitions and won awards also put effort to come back to train the younger students who were interested in taking part. During the competion period, our scrabble teams faced many difficulties such as the limited amount of time given for them to complete the competition, the strong opponents they had etc.
Although we did not win, our students have learnt many lessons from the competiton. Many of the students picked up scrabble skills and more players were tranined to become more experienced in the game. Hopefully when we manage to train up more young talents, we would be able to do our school proud!

Overdue Books Collection Season 1

Between 14th(Wednesday) till the 23rd of May 2008(Friday), MRL is going to your class during scheduled time for Overdue Books Collection!
Those still with Overdue books will have to return them during the scheduled date and time. This will assist us better with the overdues.

Book Review Coming Soon!

There are different ways which different people choose their books to read. Some choose books mainly by their interesting titles, some are attracted by their interesting and colourful book cover, some look at the size of words and number of pages (the bigger the words, the lesser the pages the merrier!), while some look into contents, and some look at Bestsellers and Good book reviews!
So here we are, as librarians, will be posting our views and ideas about books that we have read!

temasek poly rocks!!! 31 jan 2008

hey everyone im back! do you guys know where we went yesterday?
TEMASEK POLYTECHINC! it is totally awesome! their view and everything is
so nice! so everyone strive for poly it is awesome!!!
but Normal Tech students! dun think that poly is just for Express or NA students, it's also for you.
just study hard and get 75% and above than you will transfer to NA than go poly!
hahaha anyway back to main point! temasek poly!
their library has got 11 levels!! level 10 & 11 are for staff, the rest is for students! is totally awesome
my new aim is to get into temasek poly you guys should too!
